A couple of years ago, finding a gluten-free option around Queenstown would have been a nightmare! But gone are these days as new, scrumptious and affordable options are popping up everywhere. We’ve scouted out the best of the best options to keep you (and your tummy) happy!
Erik’s Fish and Chips (maybe a little bias)….But what better place than the Queenstown lakefront to park up with your NZ classic, fish n’ chips. And what’s even better still – the entire menu is gluten free at Erik’s Fish and Chips! Erik’s has been making award-winning fish and chips since 2015, all from a humble trailer nestled on Earl St. You can’t go wrong with the finger-licking homemade Erik’s chips and Blue Cod. Plus, for those who are feeling a wee bit adventurous, there’s the signature Deep-fried Kiwi fruit (don’t till you try)!
If you’re a fan of taco’s you’re in luck with the totally gluten free menu from Taco Medic. Right in the heart of Queenstown, it’s quick, easy and just everything good about Mexican finger food. Be sure to get amongst the mango, jalapeños, and habanero salsa’s!
The Fergburger menu will have your mouth watering…and guess what….it’s all available gluten free – just be sure to ask. The wait is worth it; ‘best burger on town’ is no lie. They even have a dedicated French-fryer, so you don’t have to go without the super duper crispy chips!
Big Fig is a reliable gluten free choice, that’s worth popping into (more than) once while you’re in Queenstown. It’s delicious, Mediterranean food is prepared fresh in house. Just pick your bowl, then your meat and then load it up with all the tasty sides on offer.
You’ve got to start your day with a bowl of porridge from Vudo Cafe. It’s a popular little spot and you’ll see (or should I say ‘taste’) exactly why when you pop in. If a whole meal isn’t quite what you’re after then be sure to check out the divine cabinet food.
If it’s a curry you’re craving then you can’t go past The Spice Room. Deliciously fresh, authentic Indian flavours and the friendliest staff in town! Trust us, you’ll have a hard time picking a dish with so many hearty gluten free options.
Some more to add to the list while we’re at it are Bespoke, Yonder, and Saigon Kingdom.
We could go on and on forever, but don’t just read about the delicious gluten free options out there – go try them for yourself!
