Our Story

Erik loves Queenstown and Wanaka and cooking kiwi food. After 30+ years’ experience in the food industry and 2 years in business serving up fish and chips in Queenstown, Erik’s bringing you only the best takeaway fish and chips!

Fish and Chips have been a kiwi tradition for over 100 years. A visit to New Zealand is not complete without trying our delicious fish and chips.

As Southern Lakes residents, Erik is committed to sourcing local NZ ingredients from potatoes grown in Canterbury to fish from Dunedin, delivered daily to our two locations in Queenstown and Wanaka.

Our family have faced food allergies and intolerances, so Erik wanted to find a way to bring all the flavour of fish and chips, without the (stomach!) pain. Erik’s fish and chips has a dedicated gluten free kitchen, so it’s the perfect takeaway food for celiac diets. Plus, we are nut free, most of our food is 100% dairy free and Erik’s also has halal certification!

We serve up the traditional Kiwi favourites, like battered Blue Cod and Hoki, tasty calamari rings and of course the humble chip. For something a little different try our popular cauliflower bites, red onion wedges or our handmade hot dogs that have been crafted by Erik himself (with love!). If you’re feeling adventurous, go wild with our deep fried kiwifruit or banana desserts.

Bluff Oysters

Bluff oysters are a New Zealand delicacy. Why are they so special?

They are grown in the cold clear waters in the Fouveaux Strait, which is located in the stretch of water between Stewart Island and the tip of the southern most part of South Island of NZ at Bluff.   It is really cold down there, and very clean [of pollution].  This makes for a very special environment from which the oyster grows.

The oyster grows wild and is harvested between March and August to ensure we maintain stocks for years to come.

At Erik’s we serve fresh bluff oysters deep fried or you can eat them raw

They are expensive little things this is once again to ensure they are sustainable and we can all enjoy them for years to come
